Saturn Returns: Your cosmic coming of age by Caggie Dunlop Review

Next up in the Little Bub Book Club is Saturn Returns: Your cosmic coming of age by Caggie Dunlop. I’ve wanted to read this book for a long time, and finally found a moment when Azaiah was napping to dive in. This has been hard to put down for a number of reasons. It’s insightful, inspiring, and very interesting.

What is Saturn Return?

I was unaware of Saturn’s Return until more recent years, which is very apt given that I am now at the exact stage in my life where I am going through it. This occurs when Saturn Returns to the exact position it was in when someone was born. This typically happens when a person is between the ages of 27 and 30 and is seen as a pivotal moment in someone’s life when shifts and changes may occur.

I found this incredibly interesting as someone who falls between this age right now. My life shifted and changed massively when I became a mother at the age of 27, right at the start of my Saturn Return. I feel like a new person now that I am a mum, my goals, and my outlook right through to the way I view my self-worth have changed. I feel a sense of empowerment and strength, mainly because of what my body did but also because of the mother I am and the difficult tests I’ve had along the way.

But, I view Saturn’s Return as a time for learning and evaluating, I’ve had things happen that I’ve not necessarily understood but looking at it through this lens makes a lot of sense. Life is all about beginnings and endings, we may not understand why but I believe it’s all part of our unique paths.

Review

Reading Caggie’s book was hugely comforting, it felt like someone was there to explain navigating this time and what it means. Now that I have learnt about Saturn Return, it makes so much sense. Caggie sheds light on her own Saturn Return and what this meant for her along with insights from Astrologer Noura Bourni.

The book almost gives off a sense that we’re all in this together and although life may throw hurdles and curve balls, you can come through it as a better and more resilient person. The book also covers other milestones in life including the second Saturn Return which occurs between the ages of 59-60.

Caggie refers to Saturn’s Return as the final initiation into adulthood, which can sound rather daunting however, it’s soon made clear that this period of time is here to guide, centre and ground rather than throw us off course.

This book covers everything from career paths to relationships and even sheds some light on birth charts, something I have been profoundly interested in. Caggie reflects candidly on her 20’s and it made me do the same. After all, it’s a decade of learning and, ultimately, growth and the Saturn Return is the final phase that brings it all together and calls for reflection.

I would recommend this book not only to anyone who is currently navigating their way through Saturn’s Return but also to anyone who wants a better understanding of the different phases we may go through astrologically. This book made me want to delve deeper into the world of astrology, something I previously hadn’t given much thought to.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and will refer back to it as I continue to journey through life.
